S brought back 7 apples from work a few days ago. Some were bruised or partially rotting… i saved the best 2 for these.
I’ve been wanting to try out fancy recipes lately, something worth the time. Saw these on the internet. Thought they were sooo pretty Alhamdulillah 😄
If you are trying to impress your family or friends, these apple roses are sure to do the trick 🙂
500g puff pastry block, thawed
2 red apples
Juice of 1 orange
2 tbs butter, melted
1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
About 8 tsp sugar
Halve the apple, core it, and slice thinly. Place in a bowl, and mix with the orange juice.
Microwave the apple mix in the microwave for about 1 to 2 minutes until limp.
Roll out the puff pastry till 20cm by 40cm. Cut into 8 strips, 5cm by 20cm long.
Combine sugar and cinnamon.
Brush strips with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Lay the apple slices on one edge of the pastry such that the red part of the slices peek out over the edge of the pastry strip. Make sure each slice overlaps the previous one by half.
Once the apples have been laid on one edge, fold the pastry up such that the sugary part of the pastry dough covers part of the apple slices, sealing the cinnamon sugar in and holding the apple slices in place.
Roll like a cinnamon roll to get your rose.
Place in greased muffin tin, and bake for about 45min at 175 degrees C. Cover with foil if edges begin to burn while baking.
Dust with icing sugar and serve with custard if desired.
